Doing something different

Last week was activities week, a week where you are given the opportunity to learn something different from the normal timetable you follow. There was a variety of things for you to try, including archery, taking part in a historical re-enactment, the whole College participating in creating an art jigsaw collage, making pizzas, Bushcraft, various sports, visits to National Trust properties, making masks in English, different experiments in science and residentials to the New Forest, West Dean and also Barcelona. It was a very busy, and I hope, enjoyable week!

Whilst all Key Stage 3 students were in College, Year 10 and 12 both did a week of work experience visiting various employers – some close to home, others further afield in London and wider across the south. Welcome back to those students for the last week of term!

I must also say thank you to you all for your efforts with the sponsored walk. It was quite a warm day, but I was incredibly impressed that we managed to walk for 10 miles. It was great to have everyone together for a picnic at Cowdray, too. You raised an incredible £5700 for Sussex Snowdrop Trust – a fantastic amount of money – a huge thank you and well done.

We have sports day on Monday, and from Tuesday to Friday we are back to normal. That means that we will expect you to be in school uniform (blazers not needed) for the rest of term. Friday is not a non-uniform day. I know you will finish the term positively and work up to the last minute!

Notices for the week:

  • Sports Day on Monday
  • Year 7 parents’ evening on Tuesday
  • End of term at 13.40 on Friday
  • New York trip from Sunday to Saturday
  • True Adventure trip to Vietnam and Cambodia

To finish, I would like to wish you all a very relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday!
