MRC Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Hello to everyone from our new Anti-Bullying Ambassador team! We are delighted to be taking on this new student leadership role and have had a wonderful day’s training last Thursday, hosted by The Diana Award, which has really set us up as a group ready to get into action!

You will be able to identify us proudly wearing the green square Anti-Bullying Ambassador badge, as well as the staff who also attended a training session after school. Our role will be to promote awareness of different types of bullying, be clear on what bullying is, make it clear how to access support and run campaigns within College to bring us closer as a College community.

On our training day we were inspired by the stories that we shared as well as learning of other young people’s experiences. It was an eye-opener to learn about some of the laws surrounding bullying, cyber bullying, and when it becomes a crime. We got to know each other through some teamwork activities as well as sharing our own independent stories and experiences.

We have the opportunity as a College to earn further Diana Award badges, and these we hope to achieve through the implementation of many activities throughout College. The badges are Respect, Community, Wellbeing and  Online Safety.

Some of our initial planning at our training session saw us discuss ideas including supporting charities whose work focusing on anti-bullying prevention, visual pieces of promotion around our building, support spaces for students at break and lunchtimes, assemblies, tutor group work, clear posters that help us understand what bullying is and clear processes of how to help someone……plus many more!

The trained staff will be grouped with us and will help make our ideas as much of a reality as possible. Some will be quicker to action and others will require us to plan and work harder at.

So far to help promote us we have our team picture on the MRC website, we hope to be in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer newspaper with 2 articles, some photos of our day training are on the plasma screens and we have had our first planning meeting with the 30 of us together since our training day. Further work will have to take place with the Diana Award who will continue to support us on this exciting journey!

Sports results: thank you to everyone for representing our College

• U13 Cricket boys’ team – MRC 70/5 from 14 overs v Bishop Luffa 69/all out. Man of the match Jack Overton, with Seb Cobbold retiring 25 not out.
• U15 Cricket boys’ team (County cup) – Seafood 114/all out from 20 overs v MRC 43/all out off 14 overs. Man of the match Ethan Sharp for batting through the innings.
• U15 Cricket boys’ team – MRC 91/3 from 11 overs v Bishop Luffa 77/5. Man of the match Jude Unwin after retiring 36 not out.
