This term has gone by very quickly and there is a lot to reflect on as we approach the Christmas holiday.
I would like to start by thanking you all for the contribution you all make to our College. I know we don’t all get it right all the time, but I am sure that we do all we can to support each other and treat other the way in which we wish to be treated. If you feel you haven’t always done this over the course of the term, it is important to reflect on this and resolve to always do better. The overwhelming majority of you get it right all the time and are fantastic ambassadors for MRC. Thank you.
The Christmas holidays start on Wednesday and College will finish at the normal time of 3.40pm. We will have a whole College assembly at tutor time, where we will celebrate your many successes from this term. The assembly will be led by your Heads of House.
As a College, it is important we work together as a community. I am grateful for your extra efforts to keep our College tidy - it looks so much better than a month ago. We must keep this up and continue to make every effort to tidy up after ourselves. We are fortunate to have a lovely building and we all have a part to play in keeping it like that. I’d also like to say well done to our new House Captains - really good to see you being proud to wear your badges across all year groups.
As well as the College community, we also have a role to play in the wider communities where we live. As Christmas approaches, I would like to set everyone a challenge.... we all do things, however small, to help others every day. My challenge is to ask you all to do something for somebody for each day of the twelve days of Christmas. This should be something that you wouldn’t normally do - something different to help someone else. Imagine what a difference it will make if we all do this.
We have supported many charities this year, including Children In Need and the local foodbank. On Wednesday we will have a Christmas themed non-uniform day, the funds from this will support Sussex Snowdrop Trust, a charity which supports children who have life-limiting illnesses. The £1.00 contribution we ask you to make makes a big difference to the support these children and their families receive and I would ask you to reflect on this on Wednesday, when you pay your money for this important charity.
I have no sports results to share this week, as some fixtures were postponed due to poor weather. Something to look forward to in the New Year! We have the College Pantomime to look forward to on Monday evening and I am grateful to our Year 10 students for performing to over 200 primary children on Friday. I hope to see lots of you at the performance on Monday.
Finally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
