Welcome back to a new school year!
I’d like to start by welcoming you all back to a brand new academic year. I hope you all had a good and relaxing holiday and are now feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. I am hugely impressed, as always, by the way in which you have started the academic year. I have visited several classrooms and in each case, I have seen you working hard, behaving well and making good progress. Thank you and well done.
Our Values: respect, happiness and achievement.
At the start of the new year, it is important that we remind ourselves of the College values. It is fantastic to see these set in stone outside the College on the grass as you walk into the College building. We must now all make sure we live by these – it is these values which enable us to operate as a successful College community. In particular, I would like you to consider whether you: ‘do what it takes for as long as it takes.’ This is really very important and can be applied to school work, supporting friends or working to be the best person you can be. Please make sure you keep this up and maintain your focus on this.
GCSE and A-Level Results
I must say a huge well done to our GCSE and A-Level students. The students achieved excellent results: half of all our grades in the sixth form were A*-B, which is a fantastic achievement. For GCSE, students’ results were better than in 2018 – another excellent result which shows that the College is continuing to improve and is helping students to make better and more progress. Thank you also to all the teaching and support staff whose work helped to make these results possible.
The foundation for this success is hard work in every lesson, every day. Make sure you are doing this all the time – it will make a difference in the future.
