Welcome back to a new school year!
I’d like to start by welcoming you all back to a brand-new academic year. It is great to have you all back with us again and I hope you all had a good and relaxing holiday and are now feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. I am hugely impressed, as always, by the way in which you have started the academic year. I have visited several classrooms and in each case, I have seen you working hard, behaving well and making good progress. Thank you and well done.
Our Values: respect, happiness and achievement.
As we start the new academic year, I would like to reflect on our College values, chosen by our students. It is particularly important that we all adhere to these, with every interaction we have every day. As I said in my assemblies last week, we must all push ourselves to do our very best, must be polite to others and treat each other the way we would wish to be treated. These values define who are at MRC and we must all work to uphold them.
In my assemblies, I also told all students what our three priorities are for this year. They are:
1. Challenge: we will challenge you to work your hardest in every lesson, every day
2. Independence: we will set more homework for you and expect you to be resilient in lessons if you find something hard
3. Wellbeing: we will achieve the Wellbeing in School Award this year. Our anti-bullying ambassadors will have a greater role and we will always contact parents if you raise concerns with us.
GCSE and A-Level Results
I must say a huge well done to our GCSE and A-Level students. We had some fantastic results in Key Stage 5 with students achieving top grades in several subjects – these students are now off to different to universities, apprenticeships or employment. Our GCSE results continue to be very strong for the third year in a row and a are likely to be in the top 20% nationally. We know we can do better and through working together we can do this!
Parent Information Evenings
Our parent information evenings start this week – I hope as many of you can make it to the evenings as possible
Have a good week
