First Reading Intervention Coffee Morning

On Friday 7 February, we held our first Reading Intervention Coffee morning (by invitation only).

We spent time looking at our various reading intervention programmes: Fresh start, Rapid Reader, Lexia and Sparx Reader.

Lots of strategies were discussed, such as the use of questions to promote inference, sounding out words and looking up tricky vocabulary.  The podcast (below or above) 'Every Page Counts' helps to give ideas to support and  encourage children to read at home. The reading poster (also below or above) 'At home you can... At school we will' gives a list of questions to use with children before, during and after reading.

Our next session is already being planned!
