Welcome from Head Boy Head Girl

Kelly

Positive, friendly and kind. Hi, I’m Kelly and they are probably the first few words you will use to describe me when you meet me (I hope!) I am so incredibly grateful and honoured to introduce myself as the new Head Girl and I am very excited to see what Ben and I can do together to enrich and enhance our, already wonderful and beautiful school. I am currently studying biology, chemistry, maths and English literature with the hope of studying medicine or dentistry in the future. I am especially fascinated by the sciences, sports and music. Outside of school, I am an eager pianist – my favourite piece to play being ‘Prelude and Fugue in C major’ by Bach! Since year 7, I have always had a huge passion for football and am proud to have been part of the girl’s football team throughout my time in the lower school. Finally, I love to read. I believe reading broadens the mind; broadens our perspective on things and so, I would like to look at our school holistically, with a silver lining, and analyse where we could grow; where we could flourish so that each and every student feels proud and happy to be a part of our school.

Midhurst Rother College has a way of fostering an environment; a community in which it feels safe and natural to express your interests and pursue your passions, while also helping and supporting you grow and thrive as a student; and as an individual. The school has been such a defining chapter in helping me become the person I am today, and I would like to shine my character onto the younger years, inspiring them to rise above their fears, believe in themselves and strive towards their goals. As Head Girl, I hope to not only nurture a positive difference within the school, but also be someone that students can come to, to voice their ideas; to voice their concerns – no matter how small they might be! I can’t wait to work with all of you and if you ever need any help or advice, please don’t hesitate to come and find me or Ben!

Ben

Welcome to MRC, I’m Ben. As Head Boy, alongside the Head Girl, Kelly, it is my responsibility to develop a culture where every member of the school community seeks to be the best they can be and bring out the best in others. This new challenge is just so awesome.  This is my 6th year at MRC, I am currently studying maths, physics and further maths, so naturally I love STEM and dream of it being my career. In my earlier years I also developed a passion for history, languages, and all sports, I hope to instil a similar enthusiastic approach to new and old subjects in the school and show students how rewarding MRC can be. Outside of my studies I play football for Midhurst and Easebourne FC (reigning champs!), keep fit by running and going to the gym and am doing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh with Petworth Youth Club. I intend to apply the level of determination and persistence gained from these activities to my role and be the best head boy I can.

MRC is a school built on its Values, Respect, Happiness, and Achievement, they serve as the foundation for making the school a valuable and engaging place to learn. I aim for every student to see our school as a mixture of fun, challenging, and rewarding, where they can build important relationships and learn key life skills, such as hard work and respect. I am thrilled to have such a strong line up of staff that are willing to support the growth of MRC, alongside Kelly, whose determination and dedication to her role as Head Girl is truly inspiring.

I am so excited for what Kelly, and I can do for you and the school over the next year and hope you all are too!
