House System
The House system at MRC is designed to promote competition across all subject areas as well as support our rewards and behaviour systems.
All tutor groups belong to one of our four houses – Austen, Kipling, Tennyson or Woolf.
Students show pride in their house through the annual subject house competitions and the three headline competitions in Sport, Drama and Music. All students have the opportunity to get involved in house events throughout the year and also contribute to the final standings through their behaviour and attendance.
Our houses also supports our rewards policy and epraise system, ensuring that all students are recognised for their achievements on a continual basis, an example being the email to the top ten achievers that our heads of house send home each week!
Students are fully involved in their house and have the opportunity to become further involved by becoming elected as a House Captain, Years 7-11, or a House Leader in Year 12. These roles allow students to have a say in College life through their meetings, and also to lead and encourage other students to become involved in events and activities.
Our College is well decorated with bright and inspiring logos throughout House corridors, House Captains are also celebrated with photos in their house areas and wear their Captain badges for all to see. Students tell us they enjoy the system and are proud to represent their house in different events, our new MRC proud cards also support the sense of pride in a student’s house by getting it right and going above and beyond in all areas of College life.
